Having worked with children, adolescents, and adults for many years, I was so struck by the effect of 9/11 on everyone, especially kids, that it inspired me to search for ways to help all of us save our “inner worlds” after the outer world had changed forever. I found a fun way to teach people to relax and help with sleep difficulties by way of using creativity, relaxation, medical hypnosis, and our lungs and bellies.

My approach to therapy is multi-dimensional. My undergraduate degree in nursing and experience in the medical community have allowed me to adopt a holistic approach to providing therapy to clients.

I treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I suggest that interested clients participate in an initial 2 hour consultation in which I take a complete multi-generational family history, answer questions regarding my approach to the issues, and encourage clients to assess whether I am the correct person to help them. I feel that one of the most important aspects of successful treatment is a good therapeutic alliance. I also ask clients to fill out multiple symptom checklists so that no aspects of any underlying issues are ignored. The client and I then develop the initial treatment plan which allows us to move forward.

I have extensive training in individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy, including medical and Ericksonian hypnosis, and EMDR. I have much experience in working with Bi-Polar illness with children and adults, and I have extensive success in teaching children and adults how to use self hypnosis to decrease anxiety, cope with eating issues, smoking, irritable bowel syndrome, performance anxiety, ADHD, sleep difficulties, flying fears, and many anxieties which interfere with successful and happy functioning.

It is my opinion that treatment must be tailored to each individual’s needs, and if another professional could be more helpful, or a physician or psychiatrist should be consulted, I will encourage and participate in collaborative treatment.
