As a graduate of the Syracuse University School of Social Work, and the four year Certificate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health (New York City), I bring much varied experience to my practice. In addition to my formal training I have served as the Director of Social Work and Creative Therapies at Fair Oaks Hospital (Summit, NJ) and as the Director of Psychiatric Services at Overlook Hospital (Summit, NJ).

My clinical practice consists of working with adults, families, couples and adolescents. I believe that in today’s complex world, one has to be creative and flexible in utilizing multiple clinical approaches to problem situations. I feel it is important to understand and work with both biological and psychosocial aspects of a patient’s “situation.” My practice makes especially strong use of empathy as a therapeutic tool. This can be most effective in my work with adult males who have difficulty engaging in the therapeutic process. In general, I am always struck by how universal and fundamental it is for people to want to be able to talk freely about their concerns, to be understood and to find solutions. This has been my guiding belief in trying to serve everyone whom I treat.
