I am a psychotherapist, licensed in New Jersey, with over 25 years experience treating adults and couples in distress. My lifelong interest as a therapist is to discover and effectively use empirically validated therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Relief can be found sometimes with a limited number of sessions. My philosophy helps individuals break patterns of thought and behavior that maintain self-defeating beliefs. The result – finding one’s own mature resilience that leads to recovery and health.

My interest in therapy started during my undergraduate years at Fordham University, while training at the student counseling center. I obtained my masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in 1977. I dealt with extreme trauma as a burn unit counselor at St. Barnabas. I was a substance abuse counselor at Fair Oaks Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. My outpatient experience includes EAP counseling and psychotherapy in several multidisciplinary group practices in collaboration with psychiatrists. I also volunteered to do trauma therapy for 9/11 families. I have success treating anxiety, depression, and all mood disorders, trauma, addictions of all kinds, grief and loss. Other areas of expertise include chronic pain, personality disorders, insomnia, adjustment to medical conditions, and relationship, marital, and family problems. I am trained in and integrate the following therapies:

Good psychotherapy involves a blend of science and art. Whether it is the simple stress of modern times, or more complex issues of the self in relationships, I am committed to finding creative ways uniquely suited to each individual to offer relief and solve problems.

I am available for consultation and supervision, in addition to my private therapy work.
